Family, Fruit, &
Fun
"The family is both the fundamental unit of society as well as the root of culture. It...is a perpetual source of encouragement, advocacy, assurance, and emotional refueling that empowers a child to venture with confidence into the greater world and to become all that he can be."
Marianne E. Neifert,
Dr. Mom's Parenting Guide
"FRUIT NUTRITION FACTS"
Fruits are nature's wonderful medicines packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and may phyto-nutrients (Plant derived micro-nutrients). They are absolute feast to our sight, not just because of their color and flavor but help body keep fit and healthy!
Noah Davis was diagnosed at age 2 ½ with Type I diabetes, and has been dependent on exogenous insulin ever since. For the first several years, this involved insulin injections 3-5 times a day. For the last year, Noah has been on an insulin pump that has done away with the need for injections. However, he must still check his blood sugar with finger prick checks 4-6 times daily. Despite the high maintenance nature of this disease, Noah has not let diabetes slow him down. He is a second grader at Davidson Academy in Nashville, TN, and is active in Cub Scouts and has played basketball since kindergarten. He also participated in youth ice hockey for two years from ages 4 to 5, and even had the opportunity to skate in between periods at a Nashville Predators game. He also enjoys football, soccer, swimming, and lifting weights. Noah is an avid Vanderbilt basketball fan!
Thank you Noah, for being such an inspiration to all the lives you touch. We wish you the very best!!!
Encourage Kids to Exercise!!
It is one of the biggest medical stories of the decade: how much kids eat and how little exercise they get. It's also the source of some serious concern for parents. When First Lady Michelle Obama launched her "Let's Move" initiative aimed at eliminating childhood obesity in a generation, she was right to call this problem "an epidemic."
